Why plan today

What you do today will bring peace tomorrow.

An unplanned funeral in California typically costs between $8,000 and $15,000, and the family has to decide and pay for it within days. Planning ahead changes that story.

01

Locks in today's prices

Funeral costs rise every year. What you lock in today will not go up tomorrow.

02

Protects your family

No one will have to borrow money, hold raffles, or argue about what you would have wanted.

03

You decide

Traditional or cremation, here or in your home country, with a mass or without. In writing.

04

Payments you can actually make

Small monthly payments instead of one enormous expense at the worst possible moment.

Estimated ranges for Southern California. The exact price depends on the funeral home, the cemetery, and the details you choose; Norma provides it in writing at no cost. Pre-need plans lock in today's price and are paid as a single payment or over 1, 3, 5, or 10 years. The monthly figure shown is the total divided by the months; the actual plan may vary with your age and the policy terms.

    Ways to pay

You choose the term. The price is locked from the first payment.

Plans are issued through Legacy Memorial Insurance Services and underwritten by Great Western Insurance Company, a Wellabe company. Pay all at once or in monthly installments; either way the service is secured at today's price — and if you pass away before the plan is paid off, the insurance policy that funds it covers the remaining balance, subject to its terms, so your family is never left with the bill.

    Single payment

One payment and the plan is paid in full. The simplest option if the amount is already available.

    1 year

Twelve monthly payments. For those who prefer to finish quickly without one large outlay.

    3 years

Thirty-six monthly payments. A balance between a comfortable installment and a short term.

    5 years

Sixty monthly payments. The term most families choose.

    10 years

One hundred twenty monthly payments. The lowest installment for tight budgets.

    • No credit check and no medical exam. Everyone qualifies, regardless of age or history.
    • Automatic monthly bank draft. Set it up once from your bank account and never have to remember a payment.
    • The plan is yours. You can purchase it for yourself or for a family member, and the transfer and cancellation terms are explained in writing at the consultation.
    • The benefit goes directly to the funeral home. Your family does not have to advance money or handle payments at the worst moment.
    • Protected if life is cut short. If you pass away before the plan is paid off, the insurance policy that funds it covers the remaining balance, subject to its terms, and the service stays funded.

Exact monthly payments depend on the service chosen, the term, and your age at signing. Norma provides the payment table in writing, free of charge and with no obligation.

    Protection beyond the funeral

    Life insurance

Protection that reaches beyond the funeral.

A pre-need plan takes care of the funeral. Life insurance takes care of everything else your family counts on — the mortgage, the monthly bills, and the years of income they would suddenly be without.

I explain the options in plain language and help you choose what fits: term for the years your family is most vulnerable, whole life that lasts a lifetime and builds cash value, or final expense for smaller, simpler coverage. We look honestly at what your family would need and find a policy and a premium that fit your budget — in writing, with no pressure.

    Frequently asked questions

    The answers families need most.

    What is pre-need funeral planning?

It means deciding and paying for your funeral arrangements while you are alive, calmly and at today's prices. When the time comes, your family does not have to decide or pay for anything all at once.

What does a traditional funeral include?

The viewing, the mass or ceremony, the casket, preparation, transportation, and burial, coordinated by a licensed funeral home. Cemetery property (plot, opening and closing, and marker) is quoted separately and can also be included in the plan.

Cremation or burial? What is the difference?

A traditional burial includes a viewing, a ceremony, and interment, and is usually the most expensive option. Cremation can be with a ceremony (viewing or mass, cremation, and urn) or direct, with no ceremony, which is the most affordable. The ashes can be kept at home, placed in a niche, or taken to your home country. At the consultation we compare both options with prices in writing.

    What does cemetery property include?

The space (plot, niche, or mausoleum), the opening and closing, and the headstone or plaque. We work with cemeteries in Orange County, including Legacy Memorial's partners. It can be purchased ahead of time and in monthly installments, so your family never has to do it in a hurry.

What is a celebration of life?

A tribute that remembers the person as they were: with their music, their food, their photographs, and the words of those who loved them. It can accompany a burial or a cremation, at a funeral home, in church, or outdoors. It is planned in writing, with the same monthly payments.

Does everyone really qualify for monthly payments?

Yes. Pre-need plans require no credit check and no medical exam. You choose a single payment or monthly installments over 1, 3, 5, or 10 years to fit your budget, and the price of the service is locked from the first payment.

How do I talk about this with my family?

Start with what you want to spare them: rushed decisions and expenses at the worst moment. Choose a quiet moment, say that you have thought about it and want to leave it settled. If you prefer, Norma can meet with the whole family, at home or by video call, and answer everyone's questions.

Can I include repatriation to my home country?

Yes. Repatriation to Mexico, Colombia, Central America, or South America can be planned and budgeted, including consular paperwork and transport.

    What is Sepio Guard?

It is lifetime protection for when death occurs far from home: more than 75 miles from your residence, anywhere in the world. Sepio Guard coordinates and pays for preparation, documents, and transportation back to your local funeral home, with no deductibles and no age limit. It is purchased with a single payment and can be included in your plan.

How much does an unplanned funeral cost?

In California, an unplanned traditional funeral typically costs between $8,000 and $15,000, and the family has to cover it within days. A pre-need plan locks in today's price and splits it into monthly payments.

What if I move or change my mind?

Plans can be transferred or adjusted. During the consultation I explain in writing the exact terms of the plan you choose before you sign any document.

Which company does Norma work with?

Norma is a counselor with Legacy Memorial Insurance Services, based in Norwalk, California. Legacy Memorial represents local funeral homes and has offered pre-need burial, cremation, and repatriation plans for more than 20 years. The plans are underwritten by Great Western Insurance Company, a Wellabe company.

Who is Wellabe, and how does it protect my plan?

Great Western Insurance Company, a Wellabe company, is the insurer that stands behind your pre-need plan financially. Its policy makes sure the money for your services is there when the time comes — and if you pass away before you have finished paying, the policy covers the remaining balance, subject to its terms, so the funeral is paid and your family does not inherit the debt. It is an established, solid insurer, and that is what makes a pre-need plan safe.

Do you also offer life insurance?

Yes. Beyond funeral pre-need, Norma is a licensed life insurance agent in California and can help you protect your family's income, mortgage, and everyday expenses. Together you review the type of policy that fits — term, whole life, or final expense — and the coverage and premium that fit your budget, in writing and with no obligation. Try the life-insurance option in the estimator to get a sense of how much coverage your family might need.

How do I know you are a licensed counselor?

My California license is #4176634. You can verify it in the California Department of Insurance license search. You can also confirm my affiliation by calling Legacy Memorial at (562) 807-1818.
